James (name changed for privacy reasons) contacted our firm regarding a reckless driving charge he received in Wythe County, Virginia. James was a truck driver with a CDL but was pulled over while driving his personal vehicle. James was worried that a reckless driving conviction would cause him to lose his job as a truck driver and potentially cause his CDL license to be suspended. We were able to negotiate a reduction of the reckless driving charge to a non-moving violation called “defective equipment.” James had to pay a fine and court costs but avoided a misdemeanor conviction, avoided any points being assigned to his license, and also avoided any insurance increases.
